To start off November, Joey VanDeusen of Calvary Chapel Fayetteville, North Carolina arrived to teach our third Life of Christ Block with a dear friend named Rick to assist and travel with.

The day after they arrived we left on a three-day, two-night trip to Galilee. Our first stop was class time by the Jordan River, followed by a time for the students to swim around and even get baptized as they felt led.
From the Jordan River we went down to the ancient city of Capernaum, the home of Peter, Andrew, James and John. Capernaum is also where there are recorded miracles of Jesus’ healings, which include the paralytic man lowered through the roof by his friends, and the healing of the servant of the Roman Centurion.
After touring around the ancient ruins, we were able to have class as we looked out across the Sea of Galilee. And to end our eventful day, we took our bus up the to the Mount of Beatitudes to have our last class session as we watched the sun set.

Our second day of the trip included visits to Mount Bental, Caesarea Philippi, and Tel Dan. It began raining in the morning and continued throughout the day, but everyone had the best attitude and made the absolute best of the situation. We had a true “rainforest” experience in Tel Dan on a two hour hike where we were able to splash around in some puddles and enjoy the beauty of creation.

To end our trip, we woke up and took a boat ride to watch the sunrise over the Sea of Galilee. Kyler led us in worship and Sosimo shared a word from the Psalms. It was such a blessed time and everyone was able to just sit in awe of the Lord. After the rain cleared that morning, we headed to Beit She’an and had class there. We were then able to explore the ruins for a bit before heading back to Jerusalem.

Because of the rain we had to cut our trip short, but we were able to finish our travels to Masada, Ein Gedi, and the Dead Sea the following week. We camped a night at Masada and woke up to watch the sunrise atop the mountain where we had our morning class. After Masada, we took our buses down to Ein Gedi and had the opportunity to hike a bit more and swim around in the pools/waterfalls. To end the day, we floated around in the Dead Sea and exfoliated with some Dead Sea mud.

We have been so blessed with all the traveling we’ve done, as well as the fellowship we’ve had with Joey and Rick. They were such incredible examples and friends to us. Through all of the traveling and teaching we have done together, Joey and Rick became such a wonderful part of our little family here in Israel and we have been so blessed to have gotten to know them.
