CCBC Florida Transition – Frequently Asked Questions

Overview of the Move

What is changing with CCBC and why?

CCBC is relocating from Twin Peaks, California, to a new permanent home in Bradenton, Florida. This transition marks a significant moment in our history as we become fully independent from Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa after nearly 50 years of partnership.

The decision to move was driven by financial and structural challenges at the Twin Peaks campus. Rising operational costs and the difficulty of maintaining an aging facility made it clear that a new location was necessary for long-term sustainability. In response, CCBC leadership sought a path forward that would allow us to continue our mission while remaining financially stable and effective.

Relocating to Florida provides several key benefits:

  • Lower operational costs, allowing us to focus resources on student education and ministry training.
  • The opportunity to share a campus with WestChurch, a growing Calvary Chapel, embedding CCBC education within the life and mission of a local church.
  • The ability to expand our online education reach—once accredited, Florida’s participation in the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (SARA) will allow us to offer online education to students in all 50 states.

This partnership with WestChurch reflects the kind of collaboration CCBC envisions for the future—working alongside Calvary Chapels worldwide to raise up the next generation of disciples and leaders.

This move is just the beginning. In the coming months, we will develop new ways to partner with local churches and Bible schools, ensuring that CCBC education remains accessible and deeply connected to the mission of the local church.

When will this transition take effect?

Spring 2025 will be our final semester at Twin Peaks. Students will depart on April 18, 2025, and the Fall 2025 semester will begin at our new home in Bradenton. Online courses will continue uninterrupted.

Why is CCBC moving to Florida?

Florida offers long-term sustainability, greater accessibility, and strategic opportunities to serve students and churches. The new location ensures a stable, mission-focused future for CCBC.

Lower operational costs, ensuring financial stability.
college and religious-friendly state government.
The ability to join SARA, expanding online education nationwide.
A climate conducive to year-round ministry and discipleship opportunities.

Why Bradenton?

Bradenton provides a beautiful, functional campus that meets the needs of CCBC’s residential and academic programs. The city is well-connected, affordable, and growing, making it an ideal home for the college. Most importantly, WestChurch—a growing Calvary Chapel led by CCBC alumni—is there, creating an immersive, ministry-rich environment for students.

CCBC’s Future and Ministry Partnerships

CCBC says it wants to focus on Calvary Chapels at large and partner with them in raising up the next generation. What does that look like?

CCBC seeks to be the premier partner for Calvary Chapels in raising up the next generation of disciples and leaders.

To accomplish this, we will:

  • Expand our advisory board to include Calvary Chapel pastors from across the U.S. and beyond.
  • Develop new partnerships with local churches and Bible schools, offering a shared unaccredited program.
  • Provide dual enrollment opportunities, allowing students to receive CCBC credit for live instruction at their local church while supplementing with online courses.
Is this the end of CCBC’s relationship with Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa (CCCM)?

No. While CCBC is now an independent institution, we remain deeply grateful for CCCM’s role in our history and continue to serve and partner with Calvary Chapels worldwide—including CCCM—by training the next generation of leaders.

Is CCBC becoming a ministry of WestChurch?

No. CCBC remains an independent Bible college. However, we are intentionally partnering with WestChurch and sharing their campus, allowing students to be embedded in the life and mission of a local church.

What will happen to the campus in Twin Peaks?

CCBC will fully transition out of Twin Peaks by Summer 2025. The property belongs to Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa, which will prayerfully determine its future use.

How do these changes impact CCBC’s progress in accreditation?

CCBC remains fully committed to accreditation and continues working toward full recognition with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). While transitioning campuses mid-process is challenging, the move to Florida demonstrates financial stability and long-term viability, both critical for accreditation.

Will these Changes impact CCBC’s Current Programs

All currently enrolled students will be able to complete their programs in Florida or online in currently approved states. However, some changes will take effect for incoming students. CCBC will continue to offer its two-year Associate of Biblical Studies and four-year Bachelor of Biblical Studies.

The one-year Certificate in Biblical Worship will be temporarily put on hold as we establish new staff and faculty in Florida.

The one-year Certificate in Bible & Ministry will be discontinued. Students seeking a similar program will be better served by CCBC York, CCBC Peru, or other affiliate schools we plan to add in the coming years. These programs are more affordable, and their certificates can be transferred into CCBC’s degree programs upon completion for those who want to continue on and pursue a degree.

Student Life and Academics

How will the move to Florida impact the online programs?

CCBC Online will continue without interruption. The transition primarily affects the physical campus, but the move to Florida will allow us to eventually expand our online offerings to students in more states once we achieve accreditation and apply with SARA.

I’ve already been accepted for this fall in Twin Peaks—what now?

If you were accepted for Fall 2025, your acceptance automatically transfers to CCBC Florida, and no reapplication is required. However, on-campus housing is limited to 25 students, with priority given to returning and previously accepted students who enroll early. Once capacity is reached, students may join a waitlist for last-minute openings or the Spring 2026 semester. Waitlisted students can begin their program with online classes. Alternatively, students can dual enroll with CCBC York or CCBC Peru, starting their CCBC program at one of these affiliate campuses while supplementing their studies with online courses.

Can I still apply for Fall 2025?

Yes! Applications for Fall 2025 in Florida are open. However, on-campus housing is limited to 25 students, with priority given to returning and previously accepted students who enroll early. Once capacity is reached, students may join a waitlist for last-minute openings or the Spring 2026 semester. Waitlisted students can begin their program with online classes. What options do currently enrolled and accepted students at the Twin Peaks campus have to continue their education?

Currently enrolled and accepted students have three options:

1. Relocate to Florida & Join Us at Our New Campus
  • Students who wish to continue with CCBC in Bradenton, Florida, will be able to do so with subsidized tuition for the next year.
  • Returning and already accepted students will pay only $6,000 per semester (including tuition, room, and board).
  • New students for Fall 2025 will pay the new rate of $7,500 per semester.
2. Continue Online
  •  Students who prefer to continue their studies online will also receive subsidized tuition.
  • Currently accepted and Returning students will continue to pay $200 per credit.
3. Attend One of Our Affiliate Campuses in York or Peru
  • Students may also choose to attend our affiliate campuses in York (UK) or Peru, earning CCBC credit for live courses while supplementing their studies with online courses.
  • The cost for CCBC credit in this model will be about $2,500 per semester, in addition to the cost of attending York or Peru.
  • This means students will pay a total of approximately $6,500–$7,000 per semester, making it comparable to the cost of attending in Florida.
What is the campus in Bradenton like?

The property was originally designed for a Bible college and features:

A lecture hall, classrooms, gym, and offices.
Limited on-campus housing.
Beautiful outdoor spaces on 10 acres, with room for future expansion.
How will the student experience change at the new campus?

The Twin Peaks campus functioned as an all-inclusive, isolated retreat center. Students lived, ate, worshiped, and studied together away from the world. In Bradenton, student life will be embedded in the life of a local church, offering:

Daily rhythms shaped by the church community.
Opportunities for discipleship and ministry within WestChurch.
Faculty involvement in church life, extending relationships beyond the classroom.
What is the maximum number of students who can live on campus in Florida?

For the first year, on-campus enrollment will be capped at 25 students. Some will live in on-campus housing, while others will stay in rented homes nearby. We anticipate expanding capacity in future years.

What will room and board be like in Bradenton?
Students will live in small community houses rather than traditional dorms.
The campus has two houses on-site, with additional homes rented nearby.
Instead of a cafeteria, students will receive a grocery budget and be responsible for meal planning, shopping, and cooking together.
How will this move impact international students?

Due to expected processing delays with SEVIS, international students may not be able to attend the Florida campus in person for Fall 2025. Instead, they can consider enrolling through CCBC York or CCBC Peru and earning CCBC credit via dual enrollment.

Tuition and Financial Aid

What are the costs for students in Florida?

Returning and already accepted students will receive subsidized tuition and pay a total of $6,000 (tuition, room, and board). New students will pay the new rate of $7,500.

What is the relationship with CCBC York and CCBC Peru?

Calvary Chapel Bible College has a longstanding relationship with both CCBC York and CCBC Peru. As part of a new initiative to strengthen partnerships with schools like these, both campuses have agreed to join this new affiliation starting this Fall. Through this partnership, students will have the opportunity to attend CCBC York or CCBC Peru while dual enrolling with Calvary Chapel Bible College, expanding their academic opportunities and strengthening their connection to CCBC’s programs.

What is the cost for students to dual enroll through these schools?

Students will pay $200 per credit transferred from these schools, in addition to the cost of attending the schools. If they enroll in additional courses with CCBC online, they will pay the per-credit tuition rate.

For most students on most semesters, this program will be about $3,000 in addition to the cost of attending the schools. On average, total cost will be about $7,000-7,500.

Will there be future options for dual enrolling at other Bible schools?

Yes! CCBC is actively expanding partnerships with church-based Bible schools, creating more dual enrollment opportunities. Stay tuned for further information.

What are the costs for enrolling online?

Already enrolled students from the 24/25 academic year will be able to continue through the 25/26 year at their current tuition price of $200 per credit.

New students beginning Fall 2025 will pay the new rate of $300 per credit.

Will financial aid be available?

CCBC remains dedicated to making a biblical education affordable. As we transition, we are reviewing financial aid options and exploring eligibility for Title IV funding, which would allow students to apply for Pell Grants through FAFSA.

Staff, Faculty, and Communication

How will this impact current staff and faculty?

As CCBC transitions to Florida, most of our current staff and faculty will not be continuing in this new season. We are deeply grateful for the incredible team that has faithfully served at Twin Peaks and trust that God will continue to lead them into new opportunities.
