Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa Update on CCBC and LACS
Shifting demographics, inflation, and geographic challenges have resulted in upcoming changes at the Calvary Chapel multi-use campus in Twin Peaks, California. The property, located in the San Bernardino mountains, is home to the Calvary Chapel Bible College (CCBC) and Lake Arrowhead Christian School (LACS). Calvary Chapel leadership is announcing that the Bible college and the K–8 school will move away from the property in a multi-phase process.
The Bible college will close out its time at the location when the current semester ends in mid-April. Two weeks ago, the CCBC board approved a move away from Twin Peaks to a new site in Bradenton, Florida. Since moving to Twin Peaks from Murrieta, California, three years ago, the Bible college has struggled to gain traction at the remote campus. Lower-than-expected enrollment coupled with increasing operational costs in the mountain community are contributing factors to the decision.
The college’s leadership team is now making plans to begin the 2025 fall semester at a more affordable and accessible location, one that also offers more hands-on ministry opportunities. CCBC remains on track for accreditation and will continue as a residential program, offering a full slate of classes when the semester starts in August 2025.
“Our season at Twin Peaks brought many challenges, but recently we have stopped seeing them as obstacles to overcome and started to see them as signposts inviting change. We believe God is building on the legacy of the last 50 years by leading us into a new season—not at a conference center, but in deeper partnership with local churches worldwide.”
Justin Thomas, President
Calvary Chapel Bible College
For Lake Arrowhead Christian School, the approaching 2025–2026 school year will be its last on the Twin Peaks campus. As the number of young families with school-aged children continues to decline throughout the Twin Peaks area, LACS’s enrollment also continues to be impacted.
The school will complete the upcoming academic year at its current location while exploring options for the following year, including finding a more affordable site in or around the Twin Peaks area.
“As we navigate this transition together, I want you to know that I could not ask for a more committed, prayerful, and resilient group of staff members. I know the love we have for one another and the unwavering support we give to one another will do much to alleviate the uncertainty of the days ahead.”
Jim Hein, Principal
Lake Arrowhead Christian School
As CCBC and LACS plan to move away from the Twin Peaks campus, Calvary Chapel leadership is committed to working with both institutions to aid in transition and relocation. The church’s leadership is grateful for the tremendous work of the faculties and staff, the landmark educational successes achieved, and the transformative work of God in the lives of so many students over the seasons.
In the weeks ahead, Calvary Chapel will consider the future of the Twin Peaks property. For any questions on the upcoming changes, please contact:
