WestChurch

WestChurch: A Story of God’s Leading

In the heart of Bradenton, Florida, a new church is thriving—one deeply connected to the mission and legacy of Calvary Chapel Bible College. WestChurch isn’t just another church plant; it’s a reunion of CCBC alumni who, after years of serving in different places, found themselves drawn back together to establish a gospel-centered community.

The story of WestChurch is one of God’s providence. Many of its leaders first met as students at CCBC, where they were equipped in the Word and developed lifelong friendships. Over time, their paths diverged—some pastored churches, others served in missions, and still others took on roles in various ministries. But the Lord had a plan to bring them back together, not just for fellowship, but for a shared calling: to plant a church with a deep love for Scripture, discipleship, and Spirit-led ministry.

And in yet another remarkable turn of God’s providence, WestChurch recently moved into a property with an unusual history—one built with the intention of becoming a Bible college, though that vision never materialized. Now, years later, a place once designed for training disciples is being used to do just that. What was left unfinished has now found its purpose, as WestChurch uses the space to reach Bradenton with the gospel and equip believers for the work of ministry.

For CCBC, this connection is more than coincidental. As we step into our own next chapter in Bradenton, we do so alongside a church that shares our DNA. WestChurch is living proof that the investment made in CCBC students doesn’t just shape individuals—it builds up the church. And now, as we prepare to train the next generation in Florida, we do so with the joy of knowing that CCBC alumni have already paved the way.

WestChurch Leaders With Connections to CCBC

WestChurch Leaders With Connections to CCBC

Brian & Lynne Kelley

Brian and Lynne Kelly first met as students at CCBC, and their journey together has taken them across the world. Over the past two decades, they have planted churches in Uganda, New Zealand, and the U.S., leaving behind CCBC Uganda, which continues to train students today. In 2021, they followed God’s call to West Bradenton to plant WestChurch, and now, as CCBC moves to Florida, our connection continues—Brian will be joining our faculty this Fall, teaching The Gospel of Mark.

Josiah & Anja Hart

Josiah and Anja Hart met at Calvary Chapel Bible College and have spent over 20 years in ministry, serving as missionaries in Germany and Colorado before joining WestChurch in Bradenton, where Josiah serves as an elder and assistant pastor. This Fall, he will also be part of our faculty at CCBC, teaching The Book of Acts as we launch our new campus in Florida.

Cody & Myca King

Cody and Myca both attended CCBC, with Cody graduating in 2002. Since 2003, they have served in ministry together, including pioneering two church plants. In 2022, they moved to Bradenton to help establish WestChurch, where Cody served as an assistant pastor and continues to serve on the board. In March 2025, they were called back to Temecula, California, where Cody now serves as an assistant pastor at Reliance Church.

As we step into this new chapter, we do so with confidence in God’s leading and gratitude for how He has gone before us. WestChurch is a reminder that CCBC’s impact reaches far beyond the classroom.

Now, as we prepare to equip students in Bradenton, we do so alongside a church that shares our vision. Stay connected as we share more about our move, the people and places that make Bradenton special, and the incredible ways God is at work. The journey is just beginning!
