Alumni Stories Mike Massey

At Calvary Chapel Bible College, we believe a biblical foundation doesn’t just prepare you for ministry—it prepares you for life. In this recurring series, we’re sharing the real stories of our alumni—where God has led them, what they’ve learned, and how their time at CCBC continues to shape their calling today.

Meet Mike Massey

Mike Massey attended Calvary Chapel Bible College from 2013 to 2019, driven by a desire to study God’s Word in depth. Though he didn’t complete a degree, his time at CCBC laid a powerful foundation for a life of ministry and mission.

Today, Mike lives in Austin, Texas with his wife of 20 years and their five children. He owns multiple businesses and hosts the Daily Verse by Verse Podcast, a ministry opportunity available on Spotify where he teaches through Scripture, just like he learned at CCBC.

Looking Back on CCBC

“My favorite course was Revelation,” Mike shared. “It was so powerful.”

Through his time at CCBC, Mike developed confidence, not just in his knowledge of the Bible, but in how to find answers when he didn’t know them. “Teaching me the Bible chapter by chapter and verse by verse has given me confidence to engage in any conversation,” he said. “I’m no longer afraid of not having an answer because now I know how to find answers that I don’t know off the top of my head.”

Where God Has Lead Mike

Mike’s passion for Scripture is clear in every area of his life. His podcast reaches listeners daily, and he’s found creative ways to use it as a personal outreach tool.

“I created business cards for the podcast, so that gives me a great action item to share with people as I pray with them or talk to them about Jesus,” he said.

The Revelation Timeline he studied at CCBC is something he still returns to and comes up regularly in his conversations. “I’ve shared it with many people.”

Encouragement for Students & Grads

For those just starting their journey at CCBC, Mike encourages wholehearted commitment:

“Enjoy the journey. Put your time and attention into it. Start teaching and leading others before you even graduate.”

And for recent graduates:

“Set goals, work hard, work smart, but don’t be hyper-fixated on those goals or money. You don’t want them to steal your joy or your witness. Instead, trust that God has a plan for your life that may be different than the plan that’s in your mind. Even if you have a secular job, remember that’s your core ministry opportunity outside of your home.”

Mike sees CCBC as more relevant than ever:

“Having a deep and solid foundation built on Christ is important. If you have the time and resources to get this type of education, then leverage it for the glory of God.”
