At Calvary Chapel Bible College, we believe a biblical foundation doesn’t just prepare you for ministry—it prepares you for life. In this recurring series, we’re sharing the real stories of our alumni: where God has led them, what they’ve learned, and how their time at CCBC continues to shape their calling today.
Meet Hayley Tucker
Hayley Tucker attended Calvary Chapel Bible College at the Twin Peaks campus from 2023–2025, earning her Associate of Biblical Studies. When she reflects on her time at CCBC, one moment stands out above the rest—a moment where the Lord met her in a deeply personal way.
“In the first two weeks of my first semester, there was a chapel where the Lord had called out a long-standing hidden sin in my life. I was broken and crying, and that was the day He began to heal me from my addiction. On that day, one of my roommates came up to me, hugged me, and prayed for me. Another girl did the same; they prayed for my well-being and praised the Lord for the presence of the Holy Spirit in my life.”
“It was the first time in my life where I was vulnerable and was shown the true love of Christ in prayer by my peers… they genuinely prayed for me and sought me out to be my friend.”
A Season of Growth and Surrender
Hayley describes her time at CCBC as both difficult and deeply transformative.
“I had a difficult time at school- it was not easy for me because of emotional and health things happening, along with a lot of spiritual warfare – but I would go through it all again in a heartbeat. I know God had me there for that specific time in my life for a purpose. I would not be who I am today without going through and learning all that I did.”
Through all of her semesters at CCBC, the Lord continued to meet Hayley in unexpected ways.
“There was a particular day in my first semester of being a dorm steward that the other circumstances in my life were too much to handle—I was sitting after a chapel since I didn’t have class and was trying not to cry, taking deep breaths and praying. I cannot for the life of me remember who this woman was, but she had come to lead worship that day, and she sat next to me and asked to pray for me. Without knowing anything about me, every word she prayed was exactly what I needed to hear—and much of it had to do with specific circumstances and verses the Lord had been ministering to me with. I know without a doubt that was one of the many times Adonai spoke to me at school; He truly meets us where we are at, and He knew I couldn’t have done what I needed to without moments like those throughout my time at CCBC.”
A Foundation That Lasts
Hayley credits CCBC with strengthening both her understanding of Scripture and her confidence in what she believes.
“CCBC gave me confidence in the things I believe… I am now able to articulate with confident assurance and Scripture why I believe what I do.”
She continues to draw from what she learned every day.
“Every day!… the Lord has presented me with opportunity after opportunity to put into practice what I have learned… the Lord used my time at the school to balance knowledge with compassion and understanding with whomever I talk to.”
Life After CCBC
After walking at graduation, Hayley joined a CCBC mission trip to Cambodia, where she formed friendships she still carries today. Since then, the season has been marked by both growth and unexpected redirection.
“There have been many ups and downs since then… but the Lord has been so good. He has stretched and grown me and called out patterns I had fallen into, and I’m learning daily how to glorify and enjoy Him in everything that I do.”
While she had hoped to step into opportunities like internships, those doors closed one by one. Through it, the Lord made something else clear: He was calling her to remain where she is.
“I have been called to stay at home, not for lack of trying!… He has planted me where I am, and I know that there is blessing in obedience to where He has called us.”
Today, Hayley serves in the church she grew up in, teaching elementary students and serving in her church’s new believers class. She’s continuing her education through community college, investing in relationships, and stepping into new opportunities, including creating online content for teachers, all while learning to walk faithfully in the season God has given her.
Encouragement for Students & Grads
For those just beginning at CCBC, Hayley encourages them to fully engage:
“Learn all you can… do it all with love and joy and enthusiasm—but never forget the simplicity of the Gospel…we are all sinners in need of a savior.”
“Allow people to know you; Paul says in 1 Timothy 4:15, ‘Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress.’ This is directly following the oh so famous ‘Do not let anyone look down on you because you are young.’ Exemplify Jesus and be honest with your community. I only had a few people I truly shared most of my struggles with – but it was enough, and now they are rejoicing with me because they know how far I have come. Live in light of this – and allow people to know who you truly are; THAT is where true growth happens. THAT is where you can be deeply rooted in His Word. THAT is where you understand His love and grace.”
For graduates stepping into a new season, she offers a perspective shaped by her own transition:
“Don’t compare your time at school to your life now; view everything as a season…CCBC is a place that showed me what godly, Christ-centered community can look like, where everyone is trying to go in the same direction, and I’m so thankful for that. Count your blessings and stay in contact with people the best you can. The enemy strikes when we are at our most vulnerable- vulnerability comes when we allow ourselves to be isolated, don’t allow people to know us, and when we become bitter or try to hold onto seasons the Lord has brought to an end. A simple “how can I be praying for you?” whenever you think about someone goes a long way. Be a part of the body of Christ, serve and don’t neglect the fellowship. The transition is going to be hard, but pray and seek people out and ask the Lord for opportunities to better the people around you.”
Why CCBC Still Matters
Hayley believes places like CCBC matter because they shape lifelong friendships and teach you how to walk faithfully with others through trials and hardship.
“Places like CCBC are so important because they are a catalyst for a deep love for learning and growth… I know people all over the world now and in almost every state, and it has been so cool and encouraging knowing that my classmates are going through similar challenges and transitions and are all trying to glorify the Lord.”
Hayley's Prayer Request
Hayley asks for prayer as she seeks the Lord’s direction for what’s next:
“I need wisdom in the next steps the Lord would have me take… I’m 21 and in a far different spot than I thought I would be at 21 when I started at CCBC. I’m currently praying through where the Lord would have me career-wise – whether in Biblical Family Counseling or something else, I know He will use me because I am so willing – everything I’ve chosen for myself has never worked out, so I’m trusting Him with the details, but prayers for what those details are would be greatly appreciated!”
